The Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change is primarily responsible for regulations regarding electronic waste. Many jurisdictions have been taken and implemented like producer responsibility programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MANUFACTURER:

  1. According to these programs, manufacturers must take responsibility for disposable products including e-waste.
  2. Manufacturers should plan recycling programs by collection of funds and recycling initiatives, or by ensuring environmentally responsible disposal methods. If they fail to fulfill their responsibilities, it can result Failure to comply with these regulations can result to fines or other penalties for the manufacturer.
  3. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to ensure that no damage is caused to the environment while storing or transporting electronic waste. Damage can also cause problems to the health of human beings.
  4. Keeping records of all the processes including e-waste generated, handled, and disposed of. All the records should be kept safely.
  5. Eco-friendly manufacturing processes should be implemented to reduce waste during production.
  6. Take-back programs to collect and properly dispose of old electronics should be implemented to encourage consumers to recycle rather than dispose of them improperly.
  7. Spreading awareness about disposing of electronic waste accurately.
  8. Implementing eco-friendly manufacturing processes to reduce waste and energy consumption during production.
  9. Manufacturers have the responsibility of designing electronic devices that consume less energy, which in turn reduces environmental harm but also lowers operational costs for consumers.
  10. Materials should be selected by manufacturers that are less harmful to the environment and human health.
  11. Designing products with easily replaceable and upgradable parts extends their lifespan and reduces the need for frequent replacements, ultimately reducing e-waste generation.
  12. The manufacturer must provide clear information on product labeling instructions which can encourage users to recycle their devices responsibly.

It is important to follow the Reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle policy about electronic wastes

REDUCE:

It means reducing e-waste generation by purchasing electronic devices according to the need. If a new gadget is launching in the market then you should think twice before buying. Not buying new stuff is good for environmental purposes. You should lessen the use of electronic gadgets as possible.

REUSE:

One should reuse or donate electronic devices to charity for further use because it can help in reducing electronic waste. If donated can be helpful for the needy persons.

REPAIR:

You can minimize the e-waste by following the concept of repair.  When electronic devices and electrical equipment break down, they can be repaired for further use. This will help in reducing the electronic waste.  It may require a little extra effort to repair an item or have it repaired but is good for the environment and humans.

RECYCLE:

E-waste should be given to authorized channels so that they can recycle it wisely to recover valuable materials from it and minimize environmental impact. During this, waste materials are converted into usable materials.

CONCLUSION

So, it can be said that e-waste recycling is an important process that helps to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. By properly disposing of e-waste, one can reduce the number of harmful chemicals released into the environment and prevent soil and water contamination. Proper campaigns should be done by the agencies for the awareness of people to encourage less use of electronic devices. And if it is important, then after use don’t throw them. You can get it repaired and donate it to a charity.
